Sorry for the delay in an update but i got another VSR off the forum with different issues but with a working cylinder to test - the plan being to get both going eventually! Then i forgot to bring the chrono home from the last skirmish and had to wait for the Xcoretech X3200 to arrive from HK

Another vote of thanks to vidndicareassassin for the links and stuff - thats given me some ideas for my MP5 collection aswell!

So with the new cylinder im getting 280 with the standard spring and 350 with PSS10 130 spring, which i believe is about right. So i drilled the pin out - nearly made a pig's ear of that - and i have the o-rings soaking in fluid now. Ill post back when ive re-assembled and tested but the piston o-ring did seem a little bit on the small side and there was a yellow oily deposit on the airbrake and piston head so ill give it a damn good clean when i put it back together.

On to the second VSR i now have which is not a G-SPEC. It cocks back ok but slam fires when pushing forward. Ive tried it with both the original and the 'now being repaired' one from the G-SPEC and both work fine in the G-Spec so that suggests its not anything cylinder related. The Pro came with PSS10 internals (trigger sear, spring guide stopper, piston sear) and i have the stock TM spring guide stopper and piston sear. Ive read a similar post elsewhere that suggested the tightening of some screws in the trigger unit solved their problem but i thought id check here first for some suggestions.

On a final note am i right in thinking that the 130 spring will be fine without any further upgrades. I do plan to do the barrel stabilising and look at as many air seal tweaks as possible so it will hopefully be going back to stock 100 still looking for 350fps with the plan being to take the standard VSR to @395fps.

Cheers

Nat

Regarding wear, have a read of VA's post #60 on page 3.

Also, yes adjusting the trigger may solve the problem. Try upping the trigger pull and undertravel(?) (ie the amount the trigger moves before it begins to disengage the sear). And check your piston sear for wear - if it's worn or unevenly worn then it may be worth replacing it (or fitting your gspec sear first to see if that eliminates the problem, before you spend any money ;) ).

If that fails then you may have to put some shims between the trigger mech and the receiver, but we'll get to that later and only if it is needed.

Hope this helps :)

Latest update on my VSR adventures!

First the GSpec - after soaking the o-rings for a few days i put it back together and was still only getting 200-210. So i tried the 100 spring from the other VSR and it went up to @230. Then i changed the o-ring for a slightly larger one after going through the set i got from CPC and its now up to 260. Thats 20 down on what that spring did in the VSR cylinder. Having had a look though, the VSR cylinder seems to be a better fit in the GSpec than the original. Looking at where the head meets the hop rubber there is definitely a smaller gap than with the original and it also seems to 'click' forward better.

As for the VSR trigger problem ive taken it apart and put it back together and have noticed something a bit strange. When i checked the screws to mount the trigger unit to the reciever i noticed the rear one had about a quarter turn spare. Once tightened the cylinder didnt want to go back in. I pushed the button to lower the piston sear and noticed that it doesnt go down quite far enough, in comparison to the GSpec, and basically sits too high. Ive got a new Trigger sear on the way as it was a bargain on another forum but in the meantime any ideas?

Cheers

Nat
