After previous disappointments with SOF reproduction equipment (in particular a repro Viet Nam tigersripe set in medium made for a midget) I'm looking at a set of their tiger stripes - mainly as i cant find any decent medium/large originals to fit :(

A piccy wiccy as their wonderful online catalog is crap.

Does any one have them or experience of them?

or can anyone recommend a decent source ?

I try to avoid 'cost a fortune' as much as I can, as many of their items are piss poor quality. Epic Militaria is my main source of WW2 gear, but they don't do Vietnam. Have heard that these guys....

are good. Hope that helps.

Ahh we have the same opinion of them!

I'm loath to use them again as service and quality are shoddy at best.

Looks like I'll be saving up the pennies for a US order

Moores are excellent I've used them for years - however they can be pricey though esp when you figure in Shipping and Customs...

SOF - - well they've always been expensive and there repro 56 webbing is pretty grim. But the new ERDL looks OK from that one pic but what it looks like in the flesh is anyon'e guess.

They do say it is cut slightly larger to allow for shrinkage however...

I've had a set of Moores ERDLs trousers fall apart at the seams in the crotch (Kneel down..what's that ripping noise? Why is there suddenly a draft....Ohh, riiight  ). I moaned on a similar thread on ASCUK, and it seemed it was pretty much a one-off in comparison to others, and my OGs from Moores have been fine.

Like most things from SoF, I'm another who'd much rather see them in the flesh first before buying. Goes without saying by now....

Having suffered SOF's poor quality before I'm dubious about thowing 380 notes at them again.

Moore have always been highly recommended but the weak pound plus shipping and import duty will make them a pricey option.

Gahh decisions decisions!

As SOF are in the UK i may well give their "new" ERDL's a go as* I can return them if the QC is down to it's usual standards
(as much as i rubbish "costafortune" they do actually do refunds with little hassle) if they are cack then i can sent them back and save up more spondies for the Moores.

* expect a review in a few weeks - good or bad!

Original ERDLs do appear to be turning up on E-bay at not-terrible prices at the moment....but have a care as they are VERY fragile!

There is a review of these here Clicky... purely based on the pictures I will be avoiding these as the colour's are too pale compared to the Moore's which are closer to the originals.

Originals are the way forward.

Unfortunately if your say 6 feet tall and with a 33" waist finding a set to fit is a tad difficult and a bit expensive.
moreover i wear and use mine and would like them to last and not be frightened of trashing them.

I had a set of original lime dominant ERDL's a while back - and which gave up at the knees and elbow's after two game days.

I've had a set of Moores ERDLs for a number of years and they have been excellent and a probably a little harder wearing than real one ones in whatever condition -as I think the material used is a little heavier weight. (theres a photo of them being used in the photograph section)
I think that as the ERDL and even OG real deal nam stuff is getting more and more rare/pracey/collectable these days, (particularly trousers) I would really have reservations about wearing them to a skirmish/battle re-enactment where they will risk damage. -Let alone the difficulty in getting real deal stuff in anything above size medium being quite tricky. The real deal boots are also becoming harder to come by now in 'normal' sizes in both panama/non clogging and earlier sole types. Although Altama still make a mil-spec version I believe.

I know that pain (6'4" and 33" waist myself). I was lucky and got 4 sets when they where available. But I would still use Moore's to skirmish in.
