M4 1 piece hop units being there plastic or metal, ive used a few different types with good and bad results,
but the question is which are the best on the market and the worst from personal experiences...

I've used Clasic Army with some good results an i've used a guarder plastic one with horrible results.

Also hop rubbers and bucking make the difference so it could be worth adding these on the list too.

I'd like to hear some feedback on these as personaly i'd like to know what is the best out there..

I have an element metal 1 piece hop with a TM bucking and rubber and it is fantastic. Really good range and accuracy. Would recommend both.

I've had various experiences with a few and had variable results with most of them

i've a Guarder which works wonderfully in my SPR with a CA sportline barrel and Madbull blue hop rubber but in another AEG it's some 30 fps down on the G&P hop unit and TM hop rubber.

G&P are ok #
CA - the latest ones being a bit better
Guarder again on a Par with CA.

The only one I'm really keen on at the moment is the Madbull ultimate which seems to deliver consistent results when used with their blue hop rubber. And it doesn't suffer from the hop unwinding/resetting to zero too.

At the moment my best combination is a CA hop unit with Madbull blue hop rubber with H bucking.

The hop unit has been modded slightly (Some filing here and there so theres no friction to prevent the spring pushing it back against the gearbox, I was losing nearly 100fps because it was a tight fit into the outerbarrel). I've also put a spring washer behind the dial and tightened the screw up so its near impossible to move it.

Also using a Madbull blue with a standard bucking to good effect in another AEG (CA hop unit again)

Guarder clear buck/rubber (nub if your not warrior :) ) have served me well in the past aswell.

EDIT: I have an Element hop unit in my HK416 and have some issues with Mags not feeding (Certain brands of midcaps dont feed) but otherwise happy with the performance.

Seems that the Madbull hop rubber is pulling in some positive results, i think i'll be pruchasing one or two of these and give them a whirl....

Best effects ive had are CA Hop unit (Modifed with the dial to make it stop unwinding also) + Systema Hop rubbers have been the best by miles that I have used - Really grippy so you use barely no hop up for a great effect.

I've always wanted the Prometheus hop unit, there are O-rings on the mag feed and the gearbox nozzle feed for high quality air seals. KA copied this design so I assume theirs will be good also.

The New madbull hop unit worries me frankly. The O-ring inside the mag feed that stops those 3-4 bb's falling out should not have been added. When you clear your gun to safe it for the safe zone, you take mag out shoot 1-2x and the guns safe. Now if you take the mag out fire once or twice there are still 2-3bb in the chamber area. All it takes is for a gun to be left on its side (enough for a bb to roll in front of the nozzle and someone dry fire or knock it and a bb's flying around the safe zone. Seriously not cool in my view.

Just to point out the chamber lock function on the madbull hop unit is optional remove the oring and its gone.

The only real performance diffrence I've noticed thats been consistant is that plastic units tend to be more consistent in the cold as it appears to insulate your hob rubber from the body.

Update on my previous post. Ive just been playing with my set up as Im nearly out of .20s and have a few bags of .25s to get through.

Ive switched back to the standard madbull blue set up removing the element H bucking for a standard one and with the hop dialled all the way down Im achieving BETTER range with .25s.

I'm in the same boat as Mike on this one, my Element plastic hop is great at keeping the hop on but does cause feeding issues with my mags. Basically it has issues feeding the first 5-10 rounds and then it feeds fine.

Prometheus hop units have been fine for me but a little pricy

i've used promethius hops as well and i must admit i like them but the price is a tad high, i'm going to try out a Madbull hop after reading Taffys review of one and the comments in this thread..

Ive always used G&Ps as standard but im thinking of either KA hop units or madbull ultimates in the very near future :)
