Operation Black Spear

May 15/16th 2010 - Site 2 Ceri Forest, Shropshire

In the former Soviet republic of Cerinistan the fledgling democracy is struggling. On the edge of the expanded European Union, the country has become a haven for various criminal gangs operating freely within the unfolding chaos of a failing economy & a disgruntled population.
Lying geographically between east & west it has become a hugely profitable smuggling route from Iran, Afghanistan & Pakistan with high grade drugs coming to the West in exchnage for weapons & explosives being used to continue the fight against Coalition Forces.

The eyes of Brussels & a resurgent Moscow are looking to the country for different reasons. The destabilisation of a nation seeking EU membership is unthinkable to the West. Moscow, still fighting a guerilla war in Chechnya, does not want another failing nation on its doorstep sucking its forces into another protracted war on its borders.

The situation has reached crisis point with information reaching the EU & Russia that the drugs gangs in the country have recruited chemists to perfect a new & more potent type of drug with highly addictive properties far greater than anything on the market. The defection of a senior member of the drugs cartel while on holiday in an EU member nation & subsequent debrief has identified an incoming shipment of anti-air missiles heading for Afghanistan. Brussels has requested military support from NATO tasked as an EU Task Force (EUTAF) to enter Cerinistan & destroy the drugs labs, remove any anit-air systems & supporting infrastructure.

Russia has been diplomatically notified of the impending incursion & agreed to support the action. However, within the Russian high command certain elements with financial interest in weapons shipments going east are alarmed & using contacts within the Russian mafia have raised a militia comprising ex-Russian Special Forces to protect their interests.

------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three sides in this scenario each with their own agendas. The Russian force has discretion to conduct their operations as they see fit with the potential to establish contact with any side as temporary allies. This should create some tension throughout the event. Numbers for each side are currently unlimited but we may limit certain sides subject to bookings.

EU Task Force (EUTAF)

EUTAF will infill with vehicles as available & establish a patrol harbour.
There are potentially friendly locals in the area. Strict ROE are in place.
DO NOT FIRE UNLESS FIRED UPON

IED threat is high especially within cartel base areas.
VBIED threat is low.
Suicide bomb threat is low.

Primary Objectives

Locate lab
Capture SAM’s & exfil with vehicle via route to be advised.
Destroy lab/storage depot.
Recover & analyse drugs – locate new drug type.

Uniform requirements - any NATO woodland DPM's.

Russian Militia

Primary Objectives

Contact drugs cartel.
Purchase weapons systems.
Exfil with weapons via vehicle to safe area.

Uniform requirements - any non-NATO woodland cam. Black webbing, vests are allowed but no black uniforms.
OD,s. Conflicting pattern camo is allowed i.e. mismatching top & bottoms. Danish & Swiss cam stuff is allowed also, but try to dress things down a bit. You are supposed to be guns for hire, not pissed off NATO bloke looking for a dust up out in the sticks earning a wedge.

Drugs Gang

The Ceri drugs cartel will have to establish a covert drugs 'laboratory' storage facility, for which some basic props will be provided. Therefore all drugs cartel members must be on site no later than 1030hrs on the day.
You will be on site & in game when the other teams arrive & are briefed. You will use this time (approx 1hr) to set things up & prepare your defences. Your head honcho may also want to spend some time thinking about how he is going to buy himself some time & who he should attempt to ally himself with, if at all.

The cartel will be aware of the impending EUTAF incursion & will be pulling out all the stops to prevent their goods & product falling into EUTAF hands. Product is money & money talk especially in the illegal arms trade.
The potential profits to be gained from the new drug will push this cartel into the major league of arms dealers & drug cartels. None of the drugs or weapons systems present must fall into enemy hands.

Primary Objectives

Establish covert lab/facility.
Re-distribute drugs stash to 3 covert locations.
Maintain area defence within vicinity of lab & cached drugs locations.
Sell SAM systems to expected Russian mercenary force.
Do not let SAM's fall into EUTAF hands.
There is a possibility of a chemist being present within the mercenary team. Attempt to ID the chemist.

Uniform requirements - anything goes. Civvies, piecemeal cam uniforms. No full cam uniforms allowed. Feel free to go to town on this. Use your imagination & wear whatever you want. Be creative & have fun. Bear in mind we are intending to have a few bun fights between us so something that will vaguely work in the trees as well as look gucci.

Medic Rules

Each player will carry two bandages. Once hit, call the usual & lie in place. Place your weapon on the ground next to you & if you don't want to continually get brassed up put both hands in the air so all can clearly see you are out of the game & also so that your oppos can locate you. Do not stand up & wander around.
Another player must get to you & apply one of your bandages. A bandage will stay on for 30 mins. If you get hit again within the 30mins your second bandage is applied. Hit again & thats it. 20mins in situ bleedout before returning to your harbour area & then back into the game. You can grab a lift back to your TAC if transport is available.
If possible players should bring their own bandages to save time at game on.

If you get hit & overrun by the opposition then treat it is a 3rd hit & bleed out for 20mins before back to your harbour. However, should your own side push the enemy back & therefore move through your position you revert back to the first or second hit procedure (depending on number of hits sustained within the 30mins of course).

If you get hit in open ground covered by enemy fire an oppo can drag you into cover. That means drag literally not simply lay a hand on & 'help' someone to cover. Grab them by the webbing/uniform/kit/pubes & drag em into cover. Just as you would in a field somewhere hot & dusty. Your fellow fire team members should be working overtime supressing the enemy positions allowing you to get your wounded colleague. Team work & good drills wins the day.

Vehicles

Anyone wanting to bring & use 4x4's, landies etc is welcome to bring them along & get a 50% discount. Please let us know if you are ok with your vehicle possibly getting shot at. Drivers will need to show us proof of insurance, MOT & D/L.

Vehicles will be used by any team subject to capture but will begin the event as part of EUTAF (uniform restrictions for drivers are relaxed).

It's been far too long since I heard the tink of plastic on metal and felt the sting of a bb on my face so provisionally put me down for the EU taskforce (although either side is fine if numbers require) and I'll endeavour to bring a stripped down (and suitably camo'd) Landy with me! I should hopefully be able to tempt Dai out of retirement too and maybe bring a couple of the Foxes along for the ride!

Cheers, Nick

Be great to see the Landy. Plenty of oppurtunity for lots of ding dongs on this one.

Faaarrrrr too long! In fact May 2009 was my last event with you guys! The landy should be sans roof and doors so everyone will have the chance to mess up Dai's face again! :P

Once I confirm the number of bods I'll be dragging along I'll put in an order for some smokes and flares to spice things up a bit!

Cheers, Nick :D

Unless Hell freezes over or work gets in the way (works a little quiet at the mo) I shall be accompanying Nick on this jolly outing.... Hopefully I'll have my Camouflaged Isuzu to throw into the mix - its a big f***er so plenty space to take a good old brassing!

Ps

I promise to keep my gob shut and tongue out of sight this time.....

Provisionally put me down for the EU task force ....Although I'm not fussy and am happy to be tasked where ever a spot of cannon fodder is called for......

Without wanting to spam this thread as a local too I can highly recommend IED! The best fun you can have for £30 locally without taking your trousers off! :P
